When Jack and I started attempting to eat healthier, one of our big challenges was watching portion size. After all, if you go to a restaurant and they serve you a huge plate of food, then it must be the right portion for one person, right? And, if we’re eating “low carb”, then we’re doing a good job of behaving ourselves, aren’t we? Furthermore, I was taught to clean up my plate and not waste food, so even if I was full, I would eat everything that I was served. There are, after all, (not intended to make fun of anyone) starving children everywhere!
Did you know that in the 1960’s the average man weighed 166 pounds and that in 2010 he weighed almost 30 pounds more? Or that the average restuarant meal is now four times larger then it was in the 1950’s? It’s no wonder that we have more health issues and weight problems as the years go by! Besides watching the carbs, cholesterol, and calories in our food, one of the main things we can do to maintain a healthy diet is watch portion size.
A few days ago I gave you a list of great tasting, low carb soups to enjoy this
winter. Today, I’m going to share some web sites that have delicious low carb crock pot recipes. I love, love, love crock pot recipes in the winter! I can put everything in and then ignore it until it’s time to eat. It’s the perfect way to have a relaxing day and dinner with very little clean up.
Enjoy these recipes, and be sure to watch your portion size for the best health benefits!
