I’ve noticed lately that we seem to have a lot of bumble bees around. This is the first year that I’ve had lavender growing outside since we moved to Colorado and I think that’s what’s attracting them. My lavender plant has done really well over the summer and not only is it blooming, but it also smells wonderful!
I took a couple of pictures of the bumble bees and was looking for a poem about them when I ran into some quotes by Mary Kay Ash, one of which is about bumble bees. As frequently happens when I’m looking up anything at all, I got sidetracked. I started reading about Mary Kay and was amazed at what her life was like and the obstacles that she overcame to become the woman she was.
For those of you who don’t know her, Mary Kay is the woman who started the Mary Kay Cosmetics company in 1963 at the age of 45. Today that wouldn’t be that unusual of an accomplishment, but it was huge in the 1960’s. She was hard working and a great business woman.
Besides her business sense, Mary Kay was also very inspirational. She believed in encouraging others and rewarding hard workers. Her employees were able to earn jewelry, trips, and pink cars. I remember seeing those distinct pink cars driving around and knew that the owner was a Mary Kay salesperson.
There are quite a few quotes that are attributed to Mary Kay and I want to share them with you. I think we can all learn something from them.
